What is an ANIMAL-based fabric?

Animal-based fabrics are derived from raw materials that consist largely of collagenous protein. You may already be familiar with wool from sheep, silk from worms and cashmere from goats…but what about yak, dogs, qiviut from musk ox or human hair?!

Have you ever pondered how silk is spun by caterpillars making homes to transform into moths? Did you know there are more than 1000 species of sheep but only one species of yak?
