Presented by the Smithsonian Institution’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival celebrates our living cultural heritage. Taking place over the course of two weeks on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the summer festival coincides with the Fourth of July. Founded in 1967, this free festival now draws more than a million visitors each year.
