We will engage our hands, our feet, our minds, and our hearts in this interactive, exciting pilgrimage- adventure by day and luxury at night. We will start our journey in the glacial valley of Paro before flying to the heartland of the country, Bumthang. We will meet with extraordinary, unforgettable, and  remarkable people: from sheep herders and wool spinners, to royal weavers who teach us how to weave, heritage keepers sustaining natural dyes, to monks, meditators, Buddhist philosophers and charismatic female diviners to artists, hip fashion designers translating tradition into contemporary style, to politicians working to balance economic needs while honoring nonhuman worlds.

  • Arrive in Paro and check into your hotel nestled within Bhutan’s serene Himalayan landscape. Begin your introduction to the kingdom with a visit to the Paro National Museum, where an extensive collection of artifacts, textiles, and sacred objects offers a deeper understanding of Bhutan’s culture, traditions, customs, and artistic heritage. Continue to Dumtse Lhakhang and Kyichu Lhakhang, two of the country’s most revered temples, or embark on a pilgrimage to the sacred Five Female Tshering Chenga Dakini temples. In the evening, gather with your fellow Guests for a welcome dinner and orientation session.

  • Journey from Paro to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital city, surrounded by forested mountains and traditional architecture. Visit the National Textile Museum and the Royal Textile Academy to gain insight into the kingdom’s rich weaving traditions and textile preservation efforts. Continue to YDF and participate in a workshop focused on Bhutanese textiles and weaving practices. Later, experience Simply Bhutan, an interactive living museum dedicated to preserving the country’s cultural heritage. Overnight in Thimphu. Thimphu River View Resort. Meals Included: B,L,D

  • Spend the day exploring Thimphu’s artistic and cultural institutions. Visit the National Textile Museum, the National Weaving Center, and the local textile market, where traditional Bhutanese fabrics and handcrafted garments reflect centuries of artistry and craftsmanship. Continue to the traditional Bhutanese Desho paper-making factory and visit VAST (Voluntary Artists’ Studio Thimphu), where you will meet local artist Asha Karma. Later, enjoy a gentle hike along a peaceful nature trail leading to the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal, perched above the capital city amid tranquil surroundings.   • Depart Thimphu and journey toward the breathtaking Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass. Along the way, visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famed fertility temple associated with the beloved Buddhist saint Drukpa Kuenley, widely known as the “Divine Madman,” whose unconventional teachings continue to inspire devotion throughout Bhutan. Continue to Punakha Dzong, the magnificent fortress-monastery dramatically situated at the confluence of the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). Often referred to as the Palace of Great Bliss, the dzong stands as one of Bhutan’s most iconic and spiritually significant landmarks. By evening, arrive in the serene glacial valley of Phobjikha.   • Begin the day with a walk along the Phobjikha Valley eco-nature trail, surrounded by sweeping alpine landscapes and traditional villages. Visit the revered Gangtey Goenpa monastery, an important spiritual center overlooking the valley. In the evening, attend the monastery’s prayer ceremony alongside the resident monk body, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into Bhutan’s deeply rooted spiritual traditions. Overnight in Phobjikha.   • Travel from Phobjikha to Jakar through some of Bhutan’s most scenic mountain landscapes. En route, visit the Trongsa Museum and continue through the Chumey Valley, renowned for its distinctive Yathra weaving traditions. Visit local Yathra weaving workshops and handicraft centers to learn about this indigenous textile art unique to the Bumthang region. Yathra textiles are known for their bold patterns and are traditionally used in garments, furnishings, and decorative displays. Along the journey, you may encounter yaks grazing in the highlands, an iconic symbol of Bhutan’s alpine communities. End the day gathered around the warmth of a traditional Bukhari fireplace, enjoying Bumthang’s local Ara wine alongside a hearty regional meal. Overnight in Jakar, Bumthang.   • Explore the spiritual and cultural heartland of Bhutan with visits to Kurje Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, and the Dorji Be Weaving Center. Bumthang is regarded as one of Bhutan’s most sacred valleys and is deeply connected to the origins of Vajrayana Buddhism in the kingdom. It was here that the 8th-century tantric master Padmasambhava is believed to have introduced Buddhist teachings that profoundly shaped Bhutanese civilization and spiritual life. Chakar Lhakhang is also associated with one of Bhutan’s earliest female Buddhist teachers, who is believed to have been a spiritual consort of Padmasambhava.   • Journey into the remote Tang Valley and visit a traditional sheep-rearing farm, followed by Pema Choling Nunnery and the sacred Mebar Tsho, or “Burning Lake,” one of Bhutan’s most revered pilgrimage sites. Continue to the Ogyencholling Museum and Heritage House, where historic textiles, artifacts, and family heirlooms offer a glimpse into Bhutan’s aristocratic and cultural history.   • Spend the day immersed in the textile traditions of Tang Valley with hands-on weaving and natural dyeing workshops led by local villagers and artisans. Later, enjoy a gentle hike through the beautiful Tang Valley, visiting local homes and experiencing everyday village life in one of Bhutan’s most culturally preserved regions.   • Fly from Bumthang back to Paro and experience the vibrant celebrations of the famous Paro Tshechu festival, one of Bhutan’s most significant annual religious gatherings.
